Leon Edwards – This was both an outstanding and frustrating performance by Leon Edwards. In the biggest fight of his career against a big name fighter, Leon was dominant in almost every round. Throughout this fight, Leon caused some frustration with fans due to his lack of urgency and effort to push for a finish. If Leon had fought with more aggression it is likely that he could have earned himself a finish and boosted his profile twofold. Regardless, Leon has earned himself another dominant win and has made his case as a top-level Welterweight loud and clear. After the fight, he called for a matchup with Jorge Masvidal, if there are no injuries that is the fight that makes sense for both men.
Donald Cerrone – Cowboy is a beloved fan favourite for a reason. In a fight where he was outmatched both physically and technically, Cowboy fought with heart and toughness until the very last minute — giving fans the best account of himself that he could. It is impossible to judge how many more fights Donald will have in the UFC but it is safe to say we will be seeing him a few more times. For his return, a matchup with Jake Ellenberger would be suitable.
Ovince Saint Preux – Continuing his run as one of the Light-Heavyweight divisions most active and consistent fighters, OSP showed resilience and veteran savvy to get back into the winner’s column. For his next fight, a matchup with one of the few Light-Heavyweights his is yet to face; Jan Blachowicz would be perfect.
Tyson Pedro – This was a fantastic performance from Tyson Pedro… until it wasn’t. Pedro came within seconds of earning the biggest win of his career but was ultimately bested by a savvy veteran. This will serve as a great lesson for Tyson and will hopefully lead to him rebounding better than ever. For that rebound fight, a matchup with Misha Cirkunov would be phenomenal.
Petr Yan – With an outstanding first round KO, Petr Yan has confirmed what many of us already knew; he has the potential to be one of the best Bantamweights in the world. He is without a doubt one of the most exciting prospects to debut in the UFC this year and will continue to be a must watch fighter moving forward. For his next fight, a matchup with the winner of the upcoming bout between Ricardo Ramos and Kyung Ho Kang would be perfect.
Yadong Song – Two UFC fights and two outstanding finishes from one of China’s most promising fighters. Regardless of who he faces, Yadong is going to be one of the most exciting up-and-coming Bantamweights on the roster. A matchup with Luke Sanders would be sensational for his return.
Shane Young – This was a tough, gritty and impressive performance from Shane Young. This was a perfect way for him to earn his first UFC win and make himself known as someone to watch at Featherweight. For his next fight, a matchup with Dan Ige would be great.
Jake Matthews – As expected, Jake Matthews earned his third straight win in dominant fashion. As he moves forward, now 3-0 in at Welterweight, it is likely he will start to face some elite competition. For his next fight, a matchup with Muslim Salikhov would be sensational.
Matt Schnell – Despite barely winning a razor-thin split decision, Matt Schnell was extremely impressive in this fight. If he continues to make great leaps in his game it is quite possible that we could see him make his way into the Flyweight top 15. For his return, a matchup with Ulka Sasaki would be perfect.
Ulka Sasaki – He may be 4-4 in his UFC run but Ulka Sasaki has been entertaining every step of the way. This fight was no different. A matchup with fellow Flyweight winner Matt Schnell would be suitable for his return.
