Anthony Hernandez is an undefeated Middleweight fighting out of Dunnigan California. Earlier this week Anthony was featured on the latest episode of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series where he scored an impressive knockout win over Jordan Wright and a UFC contract. At 24 years of age with an undefeated record and endless potential, Anthony Hernandez is going to be a fantastic addition to the UFC Middleweight division.

Everything about the contenders series (seemingly) went perfectly for you. Did it play out the way you expected and how was the whole experience for you?

“Everything went exactly how I expected. He came out like I thought he would and threw his kicks without setups and when I saw my opportunity I took full advantage of the situation. I call it the Bill Cosby effect.”

Obviously as a young fighter, being in the UFC is always the ultimate goal. Did you think you would achieve that goal so early in your career and how satisfying was it to achieve that goal?

“Honestly I have been chasing this dream since I was 15 so it feels like damn it took hella long. Although I’m young I feel a veteran so it’s nice to finally see it paying off. I’m excited to show what I can do.”

You are about to jump into one of the UFC’s most competitive divisions, what are your thoughts on the current state of the division and how do you see yourself fitting in?

“I honestly don’t watch fighting so I’ll just take it one fight at a time and figure it out as I go. Everyone’s got holes you’ve just got to find them.”

What was the fight or moment in particular that let you know you could fight at a high level?

“I have been sparring against professionals since I was 15 and they would always say stick with it kid you can do something with this. So I did and the rest is history.”

Who is someone that inspires you?

“I’m gonna have to say, Ricky Bobby, If you’re not first you’re last.”
