UFC Fight Night 127 (March 17 2018)
Danny Henry Vs Hakeem Dawodu
Winner – Danny Henry Via Round 1 Submission
Two fights, two wins and two tremendous upsets for Danny Henry so far in his UFC Career.
Facing the highly praised debutant Hakeem Dawodu, it took Danny Henry all of 39 seconds to put together one of the most impressive performances of the year so far. Although he made an extremely impressive UFC debut in July of last year, Henry entered this fight as a sizeable underdog and somewhat of an afterthought to many fans. After an almost flawless highlight reel victory, Henry could not have possibly done anything more to show his worth. If you weren’t already a Danny Henry fan it’s about time you became one.
From the straight right hand through to the finish, everything about this fight was impressive. Danny used feints to perfectly set up the right hand that landed clean and dropped Dawodu. From there he immediately wrapped up the neck of Hakeem. Henry was incredibly patience in his commitment to the choke, maintaining and adjusting his grip throughout Dawodu’s multiple attempts to scramble out. As Hakeem finally got back to his feet, Henry was able to find the right angle on the guillotine and get the finish – choking him to sleep before he was able to tap.
Danny Henry was aggressive, confident and most importantly dangerous in this fight. This was his second win in the UFC and the most impressive of his career. Danny joins Cory Sandhagen and Zabit Magomedsharipov as one of the most exciting unranked fighters in the talent-rich Featherweight division.
I am beyond impressed with Danny Henry and have learned to never doubt him again. I hope to see him get a high profile fight in the very near future.
