UFC On Fox 7 (April 20 2013)
Yoel Romero Vs Clifford Starks
Winner – Yoel Romero Via Round 1 KO
Robert Whittaker is set to defend the UFC Middleweight title for the first time at UFC 225 in Chicago later this year.
He will be facing the number one contender Yoel Romero, who is fresh off of a third round knockout win over former champion Luke Rockhold. The fight will be a rematch of the phenomenal and highly competitive matchup that took place in July of 2017 and will be the first time Whittaker has competed since.
Immediate rematches of championship fights can be tricky to get right. There are countless examples of the UFC making the wrong decision, resulting in either a lopsided or lackluster fight – Dillashaw Vs Barao 2 and Woodley Vs Thompson 2, for example. This isn’t the case of Romero Vs Whittaker 2.
Regardless of the outcome, this fight without a doubt will be contested between the two best Middleweights in the world. This is the perfect fight for everyone involved and is exactly what the division needs after the shuffling and parody that has taken place with the title recently. Although Whittaker will likely be favoured in the rematch, this is by no means a lock for the champion and will likely require another gutsy performance from him.
This will surely be another phenomenal fight between two of the greatest fighters on the planet and is one of my most anticipated of the year.
